As older teacher computers were being phased out without a clear replacement plan, this project ensured that we could continue to have reliable technology to support daily instruction. Because of you, we didn't lose an essential tool—we were able to maintain consistency in how we teach and how students learn.\r\n\r\nIn today's classroom, technology isn't just an add-on—it's a core part of instruction. The Mac Mini allows me to deliver lessons, model concepts, and access resources in real time, which keeps students engaged and learning moving forward without interruption. Students benefit from clearer visuals, faster access to materials, and the ability to incorporate digital tools into their learning experiences. What's been most exciting is that learning hasn't skipped a beat—instead, students continue to interact with content in meaningful and modern ways.\r\n\r\nI've also noticed that students who rely more heavily on visual and interactive instruction have especially benefited. Being able to consistently project lessons, use digital resources, and adapt instruction on the spot has made a real difference in keeping all students involved and supported. Instead of only reading about how devices are assembled or how attackers might abuse poorly secured hardware, students now practice safely disassembling, examining, and reassembling lab machines with the proper tools, which builds both technical confidence and respect for equipment. Having enough high-quality bit sets for teams means no one is left waiting or watching; students rotate through roles (lead, recorder, safety check) and every student gets meaningful time actively working, not just observing.\r\n\r\nThese tools have also raised the level of professionalism and pride in our program. When my North Valleys High School CyberPanthers prepare for competitions and labs, they now approach tasks the way technicians and security professionals do: carefully selecting the right tool, documenting their process, and putting everything back in a ready state for the next team. This has led to stronger teamwork, better troubleshooting habits, and more students saying they can see themselves pursuing IT, cybersecurity, or engineering after graduation. To succeed across these courses, students need consistent access to tools that support hands-on practice, academic language development, and clear organization. The resources from this project have removed barriers to participation, allowing students to engage more confidently and take ownership of their learning. For many of my students, especially those developing English proficiency, having the right materials readily available makes the difference between observing and actively contributing.\r\n\r\nIn math, simple tools like dry erase markers, pencils, and paper have had a powerful impact. Students use them daily to model problems, practice vocabulary, and explain their thinking. Whiteboard activities, in particular, have been exciting for students because they create a low-risk environment where mistakes are part of the learning process. I've seen students who were once hesitant—especially English Learners—become more willing to share their reasoning and participate in discussions. These tools promote immediate feedback, collaboration, and confidence in using academic language.\r\n\r\nThe color printer and organizational materials have been especially transformative in speech and debate. Students use color-coded outlines, evidence packets, and flow charts to build and present arguments. This visual structure is incredibly helpful for English Learners, as it strengthens comprehension, organization, and language retention. Students are excited to work with materials that clearly guide their thinking and make complex tasks more manageable. With the ability to quickly provide updated resources and individualized supports, I've seen students grow not only in their academic skills, but also in their confidence as communicators. Together, these resources are helping create a more inclusive, engaging classroom where all students can thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1768054089220,"projectUrl":"project/resources-will-further-accelerate-studen/9989224/","projectTitle":"Resources Will Further Accelerate Student Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ferrari","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6224757_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1699164064480","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6224757"},{"teacherId":1914274,"projectId":9684597,"letterContent":"Thank you again for making this project possible. The MacBook has quickly become one of the most important tools in our Agricultural Engineering shop, and it is being used every single day to support student learning. While many people think of a laptop as just a general-use device, in our classroom it serves as the central control point for design, engineering, and fabrication. Students use it to create 3D models, develop project plans, and run the software that drives our equipment. Because I am able to run multiple operating systems through Parallels, we can use both Mac and Windows-based programs that are required for industry-standard tools and graphic design.\r\n\r\nOne of the most immediate impacts is that several key pieces of equipment are now fully operational again. Prior to receiving this computer, systems like our Torchmate CNC plasma table were limited or unusable due to processing and security requirements. Now, students can design a part, convert it into a toolpath, and physically cut it out on the machine—seeing the full engineering process from concept to finished product. That connection between digital design and real-world fabrication is where the learning really happens, and it has significantly increased student engagement.\r\n\r\nStudents are especially excited by the speed and capability of the system. Projects that used to take an entire class period to load or troubleshoot now run smoothly, which allows us to focus on problem-solving, precision, and craftsmanship. I have also seen students who are typically more hands-on begin to take a stronger interest in the design side of engineering, while others who enjoy computers are gaining confidence working with physical tools. Your support has expanded what is possible in our shop and is helping students build skills that directly translate to careers in trades, manufacturing, and engineering.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and in hands-on, real-world education.","fullyFundedDate":1767290351397,"projectUrl":"project/macbook-14-for-the-engineering-shop-on/9684597/","projectTitle":"MacBook 14\" for the Engineering Shop on the Go!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Lenz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1914274_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757558513140","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1914274"},{"teacherId":10049910,"projectId":10033406,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations. Whether I'm displaying real-time examples, accessing educational videos, or managing student work digitally, this device has transformed my classroom into a more connected learning space. Students are seeing that their teacher is modeling the kind of technology skills they'll need in college and careers, showing them that learning is an active, evolving process.\r\n\r\nWhat's most exciting to my students is the ability to see their work projected and discussed as a class in real time. Instead of passing around papers or describing ideas verbally, we can now examine student writing, problem-solving, and creative projects together on a large screen. This has sparked more thoughtful discussions and peer feedback. Students feel their work is valued and visible, which has noticeably boosted confidence, particularly for students who often hesitate to share their ideas aloud. I've also noticed that having reliable technology has allowed me to differentiate instruction more effectively, providing targeted digital resources to students who need extra support and enrichment opportunities for advanced learners.\r\n\r\nI'm especially grateful for this investment because it levels the playing field for students whose families may not have reliable technology at home. Every student now has equitable access to the tools and resources they need to succeed. Many of my students come to Algebra with great ideas but limited English proficiency, and the large monitor and Mac Mini allow me to display bilingual supports, real-time examples, and visual models that help them better understand each step of the problem. Instead of squinting at tiny text or feeling lost when vocabulary becomes overwhelming, they can now clearly see worked examples, color-coded steps, and translated supports, which has noticeably increased their engagement and willingness to participate.\r\nWhat excites students most is how interactive the setup feels. They love seeing their own work projected, comparing strategies with their classmates, and using digital tools that make abstract concepts more concrete. Several students have commented that they finally feel like they \"get\" what is happening in the math steps because everything is so clear and easy to follow on the screen. This shift has especially helped some of my newcomer EL students—they're raising their hands more often, volunteering to explain their thinking, and even helping classmates by showing which visual cues or sentence frames supported them.\r\nOne student who has especially warmed to this technology is a newcomer who arrived mid-year with almost no English. At first, he was quiet and hesitant, but once he realized he could follow along using the visuals and bilingual supports on the big screen, he started participating every day. Last week, he confidently walked to the board to explain his process to the class—something he told me he never would've tried before.
