Having these calculators will allow me to loan them out to students who need them. A student will not be kept from doing well in my AP math class simply because they cannot afford a calculator. They will be able to check one out for the year as they do their text book and also use them in class. Having calculators available to the students will ensure that they are familiar technology when it comes time to take their AP tests. No student should be kept from succeeding because they can't afford a calculator. Our school has many students who want to succeed in AP classes. However, for quite a few of these students, the cost of the tests and the costs of the supplies necessary for the classes keeps them from trying.
