I'm obsessed with DonorsChoose. I know for a fact I wouldn't be the teacher that I am, and I wouldn't be passionate, and I wouldn't be excited about teaching as much as I am. Because I know if I read about something, or I see something in a magazine, I know it can be a DonorsChoose resource. And it makes me excited, I feel so nerdy saying this, but I'm excited to go to class and have the kids. They are extremely excited, they're like "Omg we are going to do the lab today?"
Every single time I get a donation it feels like a little tiny cheering squad telling me that what I do is important and people are happy to support both my student and myself. There are so many barriers we face as teachers, especially this school year, and each donation teachers receive is a way to help overcome these barriers!
DonorsChoose has a great impact on my teaching, specifically, while thinking about my students with disabilities. One example I like to refer to is the project I created that enables my students to be able to read along and use their devices for a text to speech experience. This type of differentiated instruction is especially important within my education setting, where some students may not be able to consume traditional paper-based lessons.
