Most of my students come from a low social-economic background and often need accommodations to support academic success. These same students lack basic materials needed to be successful in a classroom setting. Now, add that to the fact that their teacher (that's me) is just beginning their educational career and has very limited resources, in regards to materials, to ensure that success. This can create unnecessary stress and anxiety, all while having a negative effect on the students achievement. Many of my students have deficits in math computation, reading comprehension, and written expression. Each material listed will benefit students in reaching their goals for the year. All while easing their minds knowing that they will have the tools to be successful. To ensure we have the materials to enhance student engagement, promote a positive classroom environment, and create an opportunity for students to take ownership of their learning, the students an myself compiled a list of materials, each serving a purpose in students learning.
