Students worked in groups to connect characters and themes from the story to their designs, using the materials to plan, build, and present their ideas.\r\nOne of the most memorable moments was our \"Camp Half-Blood Day,\" when students showcased their finished creations and explained how their designs reflected different gods and traits from the series. It is a joy to see our library shelves filled with fresh stories and new perspectives, and my students are already diving into them with incredible enthusiasm.\r\nThese new texts have introduced a wealth of important skills and lessons to our curriculum. We are using them to explore complex themes like empathy and resilience, while also sharpening our critical thinking and vocabulary. The diverse range of genres has sparked curiosity and prompted insightful classroom discussions that go beyond the pages of the books.\r\nReading in our classroom is a vibrant, daily ritual. We begin each session with dedicated independent reading time, where students find a cozy spot to get lost in a book. This is followed by collaborative book clubs or partner reading, where students share their thoughts and discoveries. The atmosphere is one of focused engagement and shared discovery, as we cultivate a community of lifelong readers.\r\nA few students, in particular, have been exceptionally moved by the new additions. One student, who previously struggled to find books that piqued their interest, has been captivated by a new graphic novel series. Seeing their eyes light up and hearing them enthusiastically summarize each chapter has been truly heartening. \r\nYour contribution has not only enriched our library but has also ignited a passion for reading that will stay with these students for years to come. When the boxes of new supplies arrived, my 7th graders were so excited—there is just something about fresh markers, crisp paper, and new colored pencils that instantly boosts the energy in a middle school classroom.
