The snacks have become a wonderful way to recognize students for their hard work, effort, and accomplishments. Recently, my Geography students participated in a Great Lakes Debate, and I was able to use the snacks as a reward for how well they prepared, collaborated, and participated. I also use the snacks as fun incentives after formative quizzes and other activities. Perhaps most importantly, they have allowed me to support students in a more personal way. When I discover that a student did not have breakfast and is hungry, I am able to provide a snack so that hunger does not become a barrier to learning.\r\n\r\nThe classroom supplies have also been incredibly useful throughout the school year. The reduced-effort desktop stapler is a small but valuable tool that makes everyday classroom tasks easier, while the magnetic whiteboard erasers are convenient and always within reach when I am teaching. The patriotic border trim has also added a fun touch to my Social Studies classroom and helps create an inviting learning environment. The Classpack of Crayola markers was especially needed, as my students and I were able to replace worn-out and missing markers that we rely on for group activities, projects, maps, presentations, and other hands-on learning experiences.\r\n\r\nThese resources have helped me create a classroom where students feel encouraged, supported, and prepared to participate. I am thankful to DonorsChoose and the Nevada Department of Education who made this possible. Their contributions go beyond simply providing classroom supplies—they help me recognize student accomplishments, meet students' immediate needs, and provide engaging learning experiences that make Social Studies more meaningful.","fullyFundedDate":1768153029008,"projectUrl":"project/tools-snacks-and-support-for-student-s/9998057/","projectTitle":"Tools, Snacks, and Support for Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Embrogno","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4451094_orig.jpg?crop=553,554,x0,y169&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1630110030820","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4451094"},{"teacherId":1649421,"projectId":10583773,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my \"Let Them Read\" project! I teach approximately 750 students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade, and these materials have already brought so much excitement, creativity, and hands-on learning to our classroom.\r\n\r\nOur Kindergarten through 4th grade students especially loved using the KEVA planks and circuit-building materials. Students designed mazes, experimented with free building, and created exciting Rube Goldberg machines. One of their favorite activities was learning about forces and motion while designing chain reactions that solved simple problems in creative ways. The classroom was filled with teamwork, problem-solving, and cheering when students successfully completed their designs. Watching students test ideas, make improvements, and celebrate their successes showed just how meaningful hands-on STEM learning can be.\r\n\r\nThe butterfly materials also created unforgettable learning experiences for our students. Students carefully observed each stage of the butterfly life cycle, from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly. When the butterflies finally hatched, the students were amazed and excited to release them. They also made connections by comparing the butterfly life cycle to the life cycles of rainbow trout and plants that we study in STEM. These experiences helped students strengthen their observation skills while building a deeper appreciation for science and the natural world.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, my students are able to explore, create, collaborate, and think like real engineers and scientists. These materials will continue inspiring curiosity and innovation for years to come. The new supplies and drawer organizers immediately made a difference in our classroom environment. Students were excited to help sort and organize materials, and they've taken real ownership in keeping our space neat and functional. Having everything easily accessible has allowed us to transition more smoothly between activities and spend more time focused on learning. One memorable moment was watching students independently gather what they needed for a writing activity without any confusion or delays—it truly showed how these resources are supporting their independence and responsibility.\r\n\r\nThe snacks and positive reinforcement items were just as impactful. Students were genuinely excited and felt recognized for their effort and positive behavior. It created an uplifting atmosphere where students are motivated to stay on task, support one another, and take pride in their work. Even small moments—like earning a snack for demonstrating \"Pioneer Pride\"—have helped build a stronger classroom community and encouraged students to make thoughtful choices.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these materials will continue to support our daily learning, especially as we work on our current units in writing and literature. Students will use the organized supplies during writing workshops, collaborative activities, and our upcoming monologue and poetry projects. We will be completing multiple projects from both novels including a foldable interactive book report summary as well as a study journal where students are able to write about the characters, etc. I will be incorporating vocabulary and grammar lessons based off of the novels too.
