I teach approximately 750 students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade, and these materials have already brought so much excitement, creativity, and hands-on learning to our classroom.\r\n\r\nOur Kindergarten through 4th grade students especially loved using the KEVA planks and circuit-building materials. Students designed mazes, experimented with free building, and created exciting Rube Goldberg machines. One of their favorite activities was learning about forces and motion while designing chain reactions that solved simple problems in creative ways. The classroom was filled with teamwork, problem-solving, and cheering when students successfully completed their designs. Watching students test ideas, make improvements, and celebrate their successes showed just how meaningful hands-on STEM learning can be.\r\n\r\nThe butterfly materials also created unforgettable learning experiences for our students. Students carefully observed each stage of the butterfly life cycle, from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly. When the butterflies finally hatched, the students were amazed and excited to release them. They also made connections by comparing the butterfly life cycle to the life cycles of rainbow trout and plants that we study in STEM. These experiences helped students strengthen their observation skills while building a deeper appreciation for science and the natural world.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, my students are able to explore, create, collaborate, and think like real engineers and scientists. These materials will continue inspiring curiosity and innovation for years to come. Thank you again for helping make STEM learning engaging, meaningful, and memorable for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1768278017248,"projectUrl":"project/the-innovation-station/10009241/","projectTitle":"The Innovation Station","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wood","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8170163"},{"teacherId":9347266,"projectId":9990173,"letterContent":"My students were absolutely thrilled when our DonorsChoose materials arrived! The new supplies and drawer organizers immediately made a difference in our classroom environment. Students were excited to help sort and organize materials, and they've taken real ownership in keeping our space neat and functional. Having everything easily accessible has allowed us to transition more smoothly between activities and spend more time focused on learning. One memorable moment was watching students independently gather what they needed for a writing activity without any confusion or delays—it truly showed how these resources are supporting their independence and responsibility.\r\n\r\nThe snacks and positive reinforcement items were just as impactful. Students were genuinely excited and felt recognized for their effort and positive behavior. It created an uplifting atmosphere where students are motivated to stay on task, support one another, and take pride in their work. Even small moments—like earning a snack for demonstrating \"Pioneer Pride\"—have helped build a stronger classroom community and encouraged students to make thoughtful choices.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these materials will continue to support our daily learning, especially as we work on our current units in writing and literature. Students will use the organized supplies during writing workshops, collaborative activities, and our upcoming monologue and poetry projects. Because of your generosity, we're able to focus more on creativity, engagement, and meaningful learning experiences. We have begun reading Because of Winn Dixie, and they are absolutely loving it.\r\n\r\n This is the time of year that allows us ample time to thoroughly enjoy a novel and in this case, two novels! We will be completing multiple projects from both novels including a foldable interactive book report summary as well as a study journal where students are able to write about the characters, etc. I will be incorporating vocabulary and grammar lessons based off of the novels too. They are excited about presenting information on our standing whiteboard as well. \r\n\r\n Not only will it be fun to read these books, my students will significantly improve their reading fluency and reading comprehension. These books have been a game-changer for my students as they develop their early reading skills. These texts are carefully aligned to phonics patterns, students are able to practice decoding words independently, which builds both confidence and accuracy. I have already seen students who were previously hesitant begin to take risks in their reading, sounding out words and experiencing success. This sense of accomplishment is so important at this stage in their learning journey.\r\n\r\nYour donation also allowed us to receive a new paper cutter, which has been an incredible help in preparing classroom materials. The floor cushions has allowed students to choose where they feel most comfortable and focused. \r\nThe magnetic tiles have become a favorite during Fun Friday. Students love working together to build different structures! \r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, we're now able to take our learning even further. Our next steps include integrating the magnetic tiles into more structured STEM challenges, where students will plan, design, and test their own creations based on specific goals. We're also continuing to build routines with flexible seating to help students make thoughtful choices that support their learning. As a class, we're beginning a collaborative storytelling project on the carpet, where students will act out and build scenes from stories using the tiles and other materials.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a meaningful difference in our classroom. Many of our donors are familiar with technology at home, but in the classroom, these tools go beyond just using devices, they help students understand how technology works. With the robot mice, coding becomes something students can see and touch. Instead of abstract ideas on a screen, they physically program the mouse, watch it move, and immediately see the results of their thinking. This hands-on experience helps them better understand sequencing, cause-and-effect, and problem-solving in a way that is meaningful and accessible.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is the ability to experiment and figure things out on their own. They love creating paths, testing their ideas, and then revising their code when something doesn't work. The moment when the robot successfully completes a maze is always met with excitement and pride. It turns learning into a challenge they want to solve. These activities also naturally encourage collaboration, as students work together to plan, test, and improve their designs while building confidence in their thinking.\r\n\r\nI've especially seen growth in students who may not always feel successful in traditional academic settings. These students have really connected with the robot mice because the learning is active, visual, and hands-on. They are more willing to take risks, persist through challenges, and share their ideas with others. Overall, this technology has helped create a classroom environment where curiosity, creativity, and resilience truly shine, and where every student has the opportunity to feel capable and successful.","fullyFundedDate":1768148190983,"projectUrl":"project/code-and-go-go-go/9997319/","projectTitle":"Code and Go Go Go!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Quadro","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8001194_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1665769139543","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8001194"},{"teacherId":9347361,"projectId":10030688,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating to our classroom project.
