There was an instant wave of excitement, giggles, and genuine joy as they saw all the wonderful items inside. They couldn't stop talking about how cool the rewards were, and seeing their faces beam with excitement made the whole room feel energized.\r\nWe have integrated the treasure chest directly into our daily classroom routine as a reward system for positive behavior, effort, and academic milestones. For example, during a recent group activity where students worked together on a challenging learning task, several students who stayed focused, encouraged their peers, and went above and beyond got to choose their very first prize from the chest. It was such a proud moment for them, and it instantly set a positive tone for the entire class.\r\nLooking ahead, we are using the treasure chest to keep this momentum going as we dive into our upcoming classroom projects and lessons. The students are already setting personal goals to earn their next trip to the chest, which has created a fantastic environment of motivation, responsibility, and teamwork. The snacks have all been enjoyed and are officially gone! My students were incredibly grateful every time they were able to choose a snack, especially during our reading activities. Having snacks available while students read has helped me keep them engaged and focused on the text. Something as simple as being able to grab a snack while reading has created a more comfortable and welcoming environment, and I have seen students become more willing to settle in, participate, and stick with challenging texts. The snacks may seem like a small thing, but to my students, they were a reminder that their classroom is a place where their needs and happiness matter.\r\n\r\nThe hygiene items have also had an incredibly positive impact, especially for my girls. All of my female students know that there are personal care items available in the classroom if they ever need them. Having access to lotion, chapstick, feminine hygiene products, and other essentials has provided a sense of comfort and security for students who may not always feel comfortable asking for these things. Some of my girls have specifically expressed how good it feels knowing that I keep these items available for them. What has touched me most is seeing how grateful these students are for the kindness of people they have never even met. They understand that these supplies came from complete strangers who chose to invest in them and believe that they deserve to have what they need to learn and feel confident at school. For students who may sometimes wonder whether people notice or care about them, that message means so much. Thank you for reminding my students that there are people beyond our classroom who believe in their potential and want to see them succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1780665030963,"projectUrl":"project/beyond-snacks-building-a-classroom-care/10170457/","projectTitle":"Beyond Snacks: Building a Classroom Care Pantry","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ascencio-Torres","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8386766_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1783485122116","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8386766"},{"teacherId":8577066,"projectId":7504904,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating to this project!
