Whether they are building anatomical structures, representing scientific ideas, or participating in quick creative challenges, hands-on materials help students better understand and retain information.\r\n\r\nPencils are an essential tool for learning. Many of my students rely on classroom supplies to complete their daily assignments, take notes, and participate in activities. Having a reliable supply of pencils ensures that every student can fully participate in class without worrying about not having the basic tools they need.\r\n\r\nLarge Post-it Note Posters will allow students to collaborate in small groups and share their thinking visually. These posters are perfect for brainstorming, group problem-solving, and gallery walks where students can move around the room to view and discuss each other's ideas. This type of active learning helps students build confidence and communication skills.\r\n\r\nIndex Cards are incredibly versatile in the classroom. They will be used for quick formative assessments, vocabulary practice, study tools, and review games. Sadly, some of those start to wear down or get used up. So, this project was really just about replenishing things that were already much appreciated.\r\n\r\nThat being said, I wish you could have seen the looks on some of my students faces when they saw a box of 1,000 plastic knives arrive. They were so excited! They knew that this meant we would not run out again for the rest of the year -- and the PB&J basket would be restocked continuously.\r\n\r\nAll of the resupplied producsts have been appreciated and are already in use. Students have used the cards and envelopes on class projects and to write thank-you notes to guests to our school. Beads have been used in my after school club for some creative, crafty projects. Headphones and earbuds have been utilized and appreciated when students forgot their own at home or when their own have been broken. They feel more comfortable with short form texts, and the poetry collections we just got are full of relevant and timely topics that the students can relate to.\r\nSpeaking of timely, we're approaching testing season, and students are not allowed to have their phones during the PSAT or SAT. Fortunately, I can point the early finishers towards the bookshelf and find them something to read during down time.
