Students who have the opportunity to self-select books that are interesting to them are more likely to read. Reading for pleasure has a direct impact on students' reading abilities and comprehension. As a new teacher, I do not yet have a classroom library that features the types of young adult books that grab the interest and attention of my high school students. I want to change that! I believe that good books can change students' lives both academically and socially. I am a prime example of how a diverse book life can make for a better lived life. I want to give my students the same opportunity to discover more about the world - and themselves - through amazing books.

About my class
