My students are young women at Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis who bring different backgrounds, interests, talents and dreams into our classroom and basketball program. They love competition, learning new skills, being part of a team and discovering what they are capable of becoming. What makes our classroom special is that I believe athletics is an extension of education. Every practice, workout, and competition gives us another opportunity to teach discipline, teamwork, accountability, confidence, leadership and healthy decision-making. Our goal isn't simply to develop better basketball players—it is to develop stronger young women who are prepared to succeed in the classroom, on the court, and in life.
