Because of your support, our classroom library has come alive with a fantastic new selection of books.\r\n\r\nAs a Computer Science teacher, my main curriculum is usually code and logic, but reading for pleasure is my absolute favorite hobby. I want nothing more than to share that passion with my high school students. It's a deeply personal mission for me; when I was a high school student myself, I completely fell out of love with reading. I only read what was strictly assigned for school, and it started to feel like a chore. I don't want that to happen to my students. I want them to know the pure joy of getting lost in a great story just for fun.\r\n\r\nIn a STEM-focused environment, reading looks like a welcome, comforting escape. I have about 165 students, and at any given time, around 10 books are actively checked out and in the hands of readers. My goal is always to find that one perfect book that hooks a student. Once they experience that spark and finish an engaging story, they are so much more likely to come back to the shelf to borrow another.\r\n\r\nWhile these books aren't tied to a specific graded lesson, they are teaching my students one of the most vital skills of all: critical thinking fueled by imagination. These texts introduce them to complex problem-solving, diverse worldviews, and creative storytelling that complements their technical computer science brains perfectly.\r\n\r\nWe received several highly sought-after titles in this set, including Project Hail Mary—a massive favorite in my room that gets borrowed over and over again. In fact, as soon as the project boxes arrived, Project Hail Mary was instantly grabbed and went straight out the door with a student! Seeing that level of immediate excitement is exactly what this project was all about.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me share my love of reading and for helping my computer science students discover that books can be a source of pure entertainment.
