Since receiving the device, I have been able to implement a new lab activity in biology classes in which students can observe the activity of enzymes in real time!\r\n\r\nStudents can measure gas production that creates pressure in a test tube as a result of an enzymatic reaction. This is really great, because they are able to analyze the data collected on the computer and graph the results. They have learned a great deal about enzyme activity from this one tool for the lab!\r\n\r\nIt will be applied to additional labs as well, in both chemistry and biology labs. Having snacks available provides students with an important source of nourishment and helps them feel cared for. They have much more focus when they are able to DO things in class rather than just reading or writing about it on paper.\r\n\r\nI've used the materials to create new activities that involve students weighing the blocks and figuring out what metals are pure substances or not by comparing objects to known standards.\r\n\r\nThe zinc has been used in two different chemical reactions in the lab that show them the properties of reactivity. Some of my girls have specifically expressed how good it feels knowing that I keep these items available for them.
