When the students first saw the materials, they were so excited. Many of them went straight for the sensory sand, exploring the texture with their hands and using tools to scoop, press, and make shapes. One of my favorite moments was seeing a student who usually avoids messy play confidently dig into the sand and proudly show his classmates the patterns he made.\r\n\r\nThe paint brushes have also been a huge hit during art centers. The children love experimenting with different brush sizes and strokes, and it has encouraged even our more hesitant artists to join in. The stickers have become a great tool for fine-motor practice and expressive art projects—students have been using them to decorate their work and create little scenes that show their imagination.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include continuing our unit on creativity and sensory exploration. During morning meetings, students help build our daily message by stretching out words, identifying beginning sounds, and practicing letter formation. In math, they love coming up to demonstrate how they solve addition problems using drawings, number bonds, and ten frames. One of my favorite moments so far was during a math activity: a quiet student who rarely volunteers asked to demonstrate a math drawing and was able to solve the problem using pictures. \r\n\r\nThis whiteboard has created a space where my students feel brave enough to take academic risks and eager to participate.
