About my class

I want to provide the richest and fullest experiences possible for them so that they can forget for a moment, the many obstacles they face outside of the classroom. In September, I will have a room full of bright and enthusiastic second graders, and I want to have a classroom that is inviting, vibrant, and engaging for students to learn. I am hoping to have a rug that is cozy and large enough for learning. A rug is the heart of the classroom. Students gather on the rug for every instruction and/or transition. Students begin their day on the rug for morning meeting; we do whole group and small group activities on the rug. It is a place where students learn, not only academics but social-emotional learning; where we share our personal stories and collaborate with each other throughout the day. In funding this project, you will help my classroom be a place that provides structure and security, for a community of learners to thrive.
