Using paint on projects we don't use for food and drink has given my kids more choices when it comes to their projects. They are very excited to try out the new products donated by Donor Choose. A number of students who had complicated designs came in after school to continue drawing and using the Ohuhu color markers and colored pencils to finish their artwork. They looked amazing. Students also wrote a self-evaluation, which was statements explaining the inspiration and ideas in their artwork, and how it connected to the themes. The next step is to take the portraits and design them into a storyboard. The first time they saw the hub stocked with deodorant, toothpaste, hair ties, and other essentials, their reactions were a mix of relief and gratitude. Students who may have skipped class due to hygiene concerns now feel more comfortable and prepared to engage in their learning. Using the big timer along with the graph stickies help students stay more organized.\r\n\r\nI have the sign, \"In case no one told you today hello, good morning\" hanging in the front of the classroom for all of the students to see and feel appreciated in my classroom. My students smile when they come into the classroom and see the sign. The students think of the classroom as a comfortable place to be and I make all of them feel safe and loved in the classroom. With the understanding that the students know it is a place I am all day, we all keep the classroom clean so it helps to have a broom and dustpan to keep the floors clean. \r\n\r\nIn my classroom, all of the supplies that the students will need either for this math class or other classes, the students know to look in the cabinet and retrieve what supply/ies, each student may need.
