This will be a particular unit plan that allows students to read multiple texts to learn about culture, community, and themselves as they come of age through literary theory and project based learning (PBL) The texts chosen are inclusive and diverse whether discussing socio-economics, status, race, gender, religion, disorders, etc. Along side of the text, students will learn literary theories that will aid them in academic discourse. This will be beneficial for qualitative questions for individual, small group, and whole class learning. Since we are an arts integrated school, students will create projects that represent the text whether through theme, main concepts or ideas of the story. Each project will have a particular skills that correlates with the standards in which the students need to demonstrate mastery.
