Palacio. Because of you, my students were able to engage with a powerful story that encouraged empathy, kindness, and understanding.\r\n\r\nAs we read Wonder, students connected deeply with Auggie's experiences and reflected on what it means to treat others with respect. Many students shared personal stories, participated in thoughtful discussions, and demonstrated a greater awareness of how their words and actions affect others. The book sparked meaningful conversations about bullying, acceptance, and choosing kindness—both in and out of the classroom.\r\n\r\nYour donation helped create a shared reading experience that strengthened our classroom community. Students not only improved their reading comprehension and discussion skills, but they also grew socially and emotionally. Several students have already asked for similar books because Wonder inspired them to read more and think more deeply.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this learning experience possible. As with many school across the nation, chronic absenteeism has been an issue at my school. I used these incentives to motivate my students to come to school and earn some prizes. \r\nThe kids were very excited for these incentives and were very eager to earn some rewards. It was awesome to see how excited they would get to earn a cute little plush, keychain, or pick a charm to express themselves on their shoes. These incentives were so successful that hundreds of our students were earning prizes and our attendance has improved from the year previous. \r\nThank you for sparking joy in my students and providing some truly awesome incentives for them.","fullyFundedDate":1755713047922,"projectUrl":"project/showing-up-pays-off/9605596/","projectTitle":"Showing Up Pays Off!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Miranda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6118058_orig.jpg?crop=834,834,x0,y158&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1564950991993","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-trobiani"},{"teacherId":6118058,"projectId":9604911,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donation to my project and helping me support the students at my school. Each day I have given out at least 1 belt and this project being funded has enabled me to do so. \r\nMy students often play outside at lunch and they come in wanting a refresh so they are not the \"stinky\" kid. The camera became much more than a tool for taking pictures — it became an essential part of how our students learned, created, and celebrated their work through the STEAM approach.\r\n\r\nScience:\r\nStudents explored the science of light and sound as they experimented with camera settings, angles, and lighting for performances. They learned how different lighting conditions and acoustic environments changed the way their music looked and sounded on video, making real-world connections between physics and performance.\r\n\r\nTechnology:\r\nThe DSLR camera opened the door to digital creativity. Students learned to operate professional equipment, transfer and organize media files, and edit high-quality videos and photos of their performances. Many became inspired to explore careers in sound engineering, media production, and digital arts.\r\n\r\nEngineering:\r\nOur students became problem-solvers. They engineered camera setups for concerts, experimented with microphones and tripods, and learned how to stabilize shots and balance lighting. Each performance became an opportunity to think critically and apply engineering design in real time.\r\n\r\nArts:\r\nThe visual arts merged beautifully with music. Students began producing their own concert highlight reels, promotional videos, and creative projects that expressed the emotion, culture, and teamwork behind our Mariachi performances. The camera gave them the power to share their artistic voice beyond the stage.\r\n\r\nMathematics:\r\nStudents practiced math through every step of production — from timing edits to musical beats, to adjusting exposure and frame rates, to calculating lighting distances. They began to see how numbers and ratios play an important role in visual and musical precision.\r\n\r\nThis project truly brought STEAM learning to life. The DSLR camera helped our students capture pride in their performances, reflect on their growth, and share their culture with families and the community. It has empowered them to see themselves not only as musicians, but as creators, innovators, and storytellers.","fullyFundedDate":1752586606259,"projectUrl":"project/steam-through-sound-using-a-dslr-camera/9315329/","projectTitle":"STEAM Through Sound: Using a DSLR Camera to Amplify Music","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Benavides","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/rbenavides"},{"teacherId":9618662,"projectId":8656526,"letterContent":"As a first-year special education math resource teacher, I am building a classroom where students feel supported, confident, and excited to learn. Our classhome theme, Alice in Numberland, brings a whimsical approach to math and helps students feel comfortable in a subject that can often feel overwhelming. When students first saw the new supplies, they were excited and eager to use them, immediately taking ownership of their learning space.\r\n\r\nThe binders have helped students stay organized by keeping their work at school, reducing stress and allowing them to focus during class. Fidget tools have become an important support, helping students release nervous energy while staying engaged in lessons. Snacks have also played a big role in motivation and focus. After discussing what they wanted to learn next, my students shared an interest in telling time and counting money, so we began using manipulatives to make these skills hands-on and meaningful.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, students in Numberland are more focused, confident, and engaged in their math learning. Moving forward, we will continue building real-world math skills through interactive lessons that help every student feel successful.
