This project is something that will help to get my students excited about reading! My class would like to participate in the Global Read Aloud which is a worldwide reading program where participants read the same book. This is a way my kids can connect with other middleschoolers around the planet and collaborate on projects together. My kids are some of the poorest in the innercity, and they deserve to have culturally diverse books they can connect with. This year’s book selection “Refugee” by Alan Gratz is perfect for my students. Many of my kids are 1st or 2nd generation immigrants, and this book allows for the kids to make text-to-self and text-to-world connections about current events around the world. We would appreciate a class set (40 copies) of this novel so that students can participate in the Global Read Aloud this year.
