I teach 5th grade in Las Vegas, NV. My students are fun, energetic, and eager to learn. Sometimes they get the wiggles and I cannot blame them. Although I plan my lessons to involve a lot of moving around the room and working in small groups, due to high expectations and the intense rigor of the Common Core State Standards, my students are still spending a lot of time in their seats doing independent work. After sitting in the chairs for long periods of time the chairs become hard, uncomfortable, and a distraction.
