When students first saw the stack of brand-new boards ready for them, the room immediately filled with excitement and a few competitive comments like, \"Mine is going to be the best one.\" For many students, having the materials provided made the project feel official and important from day one.\r\n\r\nWe used the poster boards as the centerpiece of each student's Wax Museum display. After researching a GOAT or positive change-maker, students designed their boards with key facts, images, quotes, and creative layouts that brought their person's legacy to life. During our Living Museum event, students dressed as their figures, posed next to their boards, and sprang into action when visitors \"activated\" them with a button — delivering speeches they had written and practiced. The boards didn't just hold information; they helped students stay organized, confident, and proud of their work.\r\n\r\nBecause of these resources, I was able to focus on teaching research skills, writing strong speeches, and helping students present with confidence, rather than worrying about who had supplies. Our next steps are building on this momentum with more project-based learning, including argumentative writing about who truly deserves \"GOAT\" status and reflection pieces on what makes a real change-maker. Even though many students had played before, seeing brand new instruments and having their own protective cases made everything feel more real and special. Students eagerly helped unpack them, carefully placing each guitar into its case and discussing which songs they wanted to learn next. The cases immediately gave students a sense of pride and responsibility, helping them treat the instruments like true musicians.\r\n\r\nDuring guitar club, students now use the guitars to practice chords, strumming patterns, and new songs each week. One of the biggest changes has been our ability to let students check out guitars and take them home to practice. This has made a huge impact — students come back excited to show what they learned, more confident in their playing, and motivated to keep improving. Having access outside of club time has helped their progress grow faster than ever.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue building their skills by learning more challenging songs and preparing to perform for classmates and school events. Because the guitars are safely stored in their cases, we know they will last for years and continue supporting future guitar club members. Your generosity has expanded opportunities for our students, fueled their love of music, and made the guitar club an even more meaningful experience — thank you for making this possible!","fullyFundedDate":1766709912826,"projectUrl":"project/protecting-our-guitars-and-growing-our-m/9753394/","projectTitle":"Protecting Our Guitars and Growing Our Music Club","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Dolliver","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7728036_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1643683361557","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-dolliver"},{"teacherId":8178538,"projectId":10014940,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity and support of our classroom. One especially memorable moment was when students used the resources for a guided classroom activity—many of them were able to stay focused longer, participate more confidently, and demonstrate understanding in ways they hadn't before. It was rewarding to see students who often struggle feel successful and proud of their work.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were beyond excited. Their faces lit up as they explored the new resources, and several asked right away when they would get to use them.
