Writing is an integral part in my Math class. We use our whiteboards to jot "noticings" and "wonderings" when we break down complex problems. In addition, we write brainstorming ideas to prepare ourselves for discussions. Finally, we use our whiteboards to model our mathematical thinking, to help justify our answers. All of these are mathematical practices, which are Standards MP.1 through MP.8. Because we use notebooks and whiteboards continuously, we usually run out of markers and papers. By using LCD tablets, my students' hands will remain ink free, and we would be able to save a lot of writing supplies.
