Just as importantly, they are helping students develop confidence and independence as readers. When students are able to choose books based on their own interests, reading becomes something they want to do rather than simply an assignment.\r\n\r\nReading in our library often begins with students browsing the shelves, talking with friends about books, asking for recommendations, or excitedly looking for the next book in a series. It is especially rewarding to see students who may not consider themselves readers discover a book that captures their attention. Some students return again and again looking for similar books or recommending their favorites to classmates.\r\n\r\nOne of the best parts of this project has been seeing students recognize books they had previously asked for and realize that those titles are back on our shelves.
