My students come from all walks of life. Some are serious and others are silly. To meet their diverse needs and build a foundation of literacy, students need exposure and experiences. Imagine witnessing the undeniable, in-containable excitement of an eight year old girl as she rattles off fascinating facts about the hairless bulldog bat to peers. Have you ever seen a student light up, initial skepticism washed away, a smirk forming as you watch, his squinted eyes blinking, as he finds a quirky, quiet character he can finally relate to? As students devour the pages of each book within our library, they will be solidifying their future of a lifetime of literacy. It is impossible to precisely measure the value a library brings to a child.
