My students are creative and need things other than books to allow their minds to grow and develop. Struggling learners need challenges and opportunities to use their minds outside of the traditional pencil and paper items. Some of my special needs students have difficulty understanding "consequences" so by playing the game What Should I Do? A Game of Consequences, hopefully, they will gain a better understanding of how to handle difficult situations. Some of my students are very creative but writing is hard for them so by using pipe cleaners and paint they are able to create characters and a setting and then orally tell a story. Challenging students to be the best they can be each day is my goal. With the STEM building projects that I requested, I think they will be able to accomplish that task. Struggling readers need extensive practice in reading so by getting additional individualized assistance through Reading Comprehension kids I am hopeful that their reading will improve and therefore their confidence will grow.
