Stories come alive through their lessons about real life, and this particular one called Pygmalion has many messages that align with state standards. I hope to be able to share my experiences that are similar to the main character's with my students. I choose this book because not only is it an easy read, but I can imagine a plethora of related projects that students will enjoy doing. I love this novella and can teach its theme in so many ways! Providing these books for my students will ensure that they will see themselves in the protagonist, and through literature analysis they will learn how to navigate the societal issues and pressures that are most common in life across many cultures. ELA RI.9-10.1
