I have been fortunate enough to have two projects funded through Donors Choose to provide the students I service with necessary materials for accommodations, interventions, and social/emotional guidance and encouragement; so my letters of gratitude are very similar. This project, Overcoming Obstacles: An Intervention Journey, included motivational, sensory, and academic items used to support students who need support and guidance. With the addition of just these materials (sheet protectors, pencils with flames, visual timers, stress cubes/other fidgets, applause button, stickers, and card boxes), I am able to provide support with emotional/behavioral as well as academic needs quickly. This is an important part of the vision I had when creating this project. Your support has transformed my vision for the classroom into a reality, and for that, I am profoundly thankful.\r\nThis year has been fraught with challenges. Not only are these students at the age where puberty begins, but there has been sadness and grief that has piled onto everyone's backs as our school has experienced the sudden and unexpected loss of one of our teachers and within a few months, one of our students. Many of my students have been struggling to process the shock not knowing how to move forward. Even I have struggled with processing my own feelings about the losses.
