Our students have been having a great time building the different sets, working together, sharing pieces, and helping each other solve challenging parts of the builds. For many of our students, having access to these sets has provided an exciting opportunity to be creative and have fun in a safe and supportive after-school environment. The excitement on their faces when they first saw all of the LEGO sets was incredible, and they immediately wanted to start building.\r\n\r\nWhat has surprised me most is how much the students have taken the experience beyond simply following the instructions. Some students have even taught me how to use the LEGO app and have started designing their own creations digitally. They are experimenting with their own ideas, creating new builds, and sharing their designs with one another. Our next step is to encourage students to design and build their own Harry Potter-inspired creations and explain their ideas to the group. Each student receives unique numbers for the calculations. Which forces an extra bit of accountability. A small fish and an earth worm will be added to the terrestrial portion. \r\n\r\nThe project runs for several months and students will collect data on water quality, temperature and pH.
