With the Surface Pro, I can now connect to all three displays simultaneously while continuing to move freely throughout the room. Instead of being tied to the front of the classroom, I can work alongside students wherever they are seated.\r\n\r\nHaving lessons displayed on three screens truly makes every seat a front-row seat. This is especially helpful for students who struggle with their vision, do not always have their glasses, or are reluctant to wear them. Every student can clearly see notes, examples, and instructions from anywhere in the room.\r\n\r\nThe ability to project to all three screens also helps improve student engagement and allows me to use proximity while teaching, keeping students focused and on task. Students learn to recognize their feelings and use appropriate strategies to manage their emotions, building important social-emotional skills that support their overall success in the classroom.\r\n\r\nIn addition to promoting emotional regulation, the calming area contributes to a positive learning environment by helping students return to instructional activities feeling more focused and prepared to learn. The opportunity to read or express themselves creatively through drawing allows students to process their thoughts in a constructive manner while developing independence and self-awareness. These tools have helped create a more professional and engaging environment where students can practice public speaking and communication skills with confidence.\r\n\r\nThe students are especially excited about using the voice amplifier and ring light because they make presentations feel authentic and meaningful. The voice amplifier allows students to be heard clearly during presentations and discussions, while the ring light helps improve the quality of recorded presentations and video projects. The presentation clicker has also helped students feel more comfortable managing their slides independently, allowing them to focus on their delivery rather than standing next to a computer.\r\n\r\nSome of my quieter students have benefited the most from these tools. The books introduced students to important literary skills including analyzing symbolism, tone, imagery, figurative language, and historical context. Students also practiced connecting poetry to music, art, and social movements of the Harlem Renaissance, helping them see literature as a reflection of lived experiences and cultural expression.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is highly interactive and student-centered. Students annotate poems, participate in discussions, analyze artwork connected to the Harlem Renaissance, and engage in creative activities such as poetry responses, gallery walks, and thematic stations. Many students who are usually hesitant readers became more engaged because poetry felt personal, emotional, and accessible. The shorter format of poems also helped build confidence for English learners and struggling readers while still encouraging deep analysis and critical thinking.\r\n\r\nSeveral students especially connected to the themes of identity and voice found in the poetry. Some students shared that they saw parts of their own experiences reflected in the struggles and dreams expressed by writers such as Langston Hughes and Claude McKay. Others became excited about performing poetry aloud and discussing how literature can challenge injustice and inspire change.
