As I was putting everything together for my graduating seniors, I realized there were still a few important items missing from several backpacks. Because apparently sending teenagers off to college requires approximately seventeen rounds of, \"Wait...they probably need this too.\"\r\n\r\nThis final project helped me add portable chargers, surge protectors, first aid kits, and copies of The Naked Roommate to the backpacks for students heading off to SUNY schools this fall. Somewhere between organizing supplies and trying to remember which student was still missing what, I also decided that including a genuinely helpful guide to surviving freshman year might be a better life choice than simply wishing them luck and releasing them into adulthood like confused baby turtles.\r\n\r\nThese backpacks are filled with practical supplies, but they also represent encouragement, pride, and the reminder that someone believes in these students as they start this next chapter of their lives. Thank you for helping me make sure my seniors head off to college feeling supported, prepared, and hopefully slightly less likely to text me in October asking how laundry works.","fullyFundedDate":1778592676772,"projectUrl":"project/one-last-backpack-before-i-yeet-them-int/10283935/","projectTitle":"One Last Backpack Before I Yeet Them Into Adulthood","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McCormack","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp12164_orig.jpg?crop=958,958,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1705447687431","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/carrie-patterson"},{"teacherId":12164,"projectId":10207212,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting another part of my senior backpack project! These are the kinds of items that seem unimportant right up until a student realizes there are only two outlets in the entire dorm room, they have a splitting headache at midnight with no medicine, or they walk into math class and suddenly remember they were supposed to own a calculator.\r\n\r\nThe planners especially make me laugh a little because every single senior swears they will become an incredibly organized adult in college. This experience helped students build practical life skills while also strengthening their confidence as leaders and educators within their school community.\r\nMost importantly, this project showed students that they have the power to create positive change.
