When students make progress or reach an important goal, they are recognized for their hard work with a shirt they helped create. Seeing their classmates celebrate these accomplishments reinforces the idea that effort, perseverance, and growth matter. The Kleenex has also helped us maintain a cleaner, healthier classroom environment, helping students stay healthy and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue using the shirts as part of our classroom celebrations while encouraging students to set new academic and personal goals. In our classroom, reading is at the heart of everything we do. We read together, in small groups, with partners, and independently. We laugh, ask questions, make predictions, learn new vocabulary, and make connections to our own lives.\r\n\r\nWhen our first-choice Valentine's Day books became unavailable, we were excited to choose special St. Patrick's Day books instead! Each student will have a festive book to take home and call their own. For some of my students, this may be the first book they have ever owned. Having a personal book builds pride, responsibility, and motivation to read, reread, and share stories with their families.\r\n\r\nThe books also provide opportunities to strengthen important first-grade skills such as phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, sequencing, and identifying characters and settings. The Earth Day and 100th Day books added to our classroom library will connect reading to our curriculum while giving students even more engaging choices to explore.\r\n\r\nMy students are especially excited when they find a book that captures their imagination. Watching a child who may have been hesitant to read become excited to choose a book, share it with a friend, or read it again is incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students more than books. You are helping them build confidence, develop important reading skills, and discover that they are readers. All of my character education books were stored away too. With this bookshelf, I'm able to pull those character education books as needed when we need to solve a problem.\r\n\r\nAlso, it has wheels which makes it perfect for summer storage. Instead of having to box up books, I'm able to roll the bookshelf to the middle of my room for summer storage!\r\n\r\nThank you for making our books and materials accessible at all times!
