We have a morning meeting each day. This is a time to set the stage for learning. We discuss what we will be doing that day, greet one another, and talk about character development and anti-bullying. Its a time to get to know each other on a deeper level and address any classroom issues as a whole group to gain deeper understanding. Many of my students have emotional and behavioral problems and need constant feedback and assurances that this classroom will provide them with a safe nuturing environment and where others are accepted for their differences. Students also need a quiet place to retreat when doing silent reading or when they need to "cool down" when they get emotional.
