Having access to this technology allows us to be more intentional and organized when observing students, tracking growth, and identifying areas where additional support may be needed. Instead of relying only on paper notes or trying to remember important details after the moment has passed, we are able to record information right away and use it to guide meaningful conversations about student progress.\r\n\r\nThe iPad has also been especially helpful for our newcomer students as they continue building their English language skills. Our newcomer groups are using the iPad for data research, language development activities, and opportunities to explore information in ways that are interactive and engaging. For students who are learning English, access to visuals, pictures, translation support, and research tools can make a huge difference in their confidence and understanding. The iPad gives them another way to connect with new vocabulary, practice academic language, and strengthen their ability to communicate what they are learning. Students wanted to look at the books with their friends. Students were eager to get our planting kits started. Other students were ready to get into our magnet life cycle kits with their friends. \r\n\r\nWe have been using these materials every day with our garden unit. Students have been using magnifying glasses to watch the seeds sprout and grow. Students participated in transplanting the plants to pots and have continued to care for the plants.
