Flexible seating will help all my students to feel more comfortable when discussing materials in the classroom in groups or with a partner. We have a goal as a school to achieve 70% of the time that students should be speaking and limit the teacher to 30% of the time. It is hard for students to have various discussion partners because we do not have a lot of room in the portable classroom and students are constantly anxious to be out of their seats. Students in my classrooms are also teachers themselves. Students learn best from each other. They teach each other different strategies that they are using in their activity. It also allows for my English language learners to learn new vocabulary. Flexible seating will help them find a space in the room where they can have meaningful teaching sessions and discussions.
