Many of the students at my school struggle with mathematics and need concrete tools to engage them in learning. The 'Family Engagement Math Pack' is something that can be used to encourage parents to become involved in their child's education. The 'Step by Step Bar Model Activity' will provide the students the opportunity to work independently through math problems and will guide them on how to solve the problem correctly. The 'Mastering Multi-step Problem Solving Cards' is an essential tool needed to ensure our students are well prepared for standardized tests. Many of the problems are multi-step and the students need repeated practice with these types of problems. All of the items in my project are geared to engaging the students at an independent level and providing them with the tools to self-monitor and increase metacognition.
