Since these resources arrived, our classroom has become a more structured and predictable environment. When the students first saw the materials, they were eager to begin using them, and we have already seen a shift in how they navigate their daily routines. For example, students who previously required constant verbal prompts are now using the new organization bins to manage their own transitions and materials independently.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using the magnet tiles to develop fine motor skills and introduce basic STEM concepts like spatial awareness and gravity. These hands-on tools allow students to engage with academic content in a tactile way that suits their learning styles. Additionally, the new regulation tools have been integrated into our daily routine to help students manage their sensory needs. This has resulted in more time spent on instruction, as students now have the tools to help themselves stay calm and focused during lessons.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will use the organization systems to implement more complex vocational tasks and independent work stations. The magnet toys will serve as a foundation for an upcoming unit on geometry and 3D shapes. These resources have provided the necessary structure for my students to better access the curriculum and develop essential life skills. We role played making healthy dishes with our pretend food that they were able to cut and slice (Velcro pieces). We played restaurant as children took turns being chefs and serving delicious and healthy meals. I have put the STEM Building Kit and the Small Group Math Kit to great use. \r\nMy students had just started our annual science fair project. This year we were making a playground model with simple machines. We used the stem materials to investigate making ramps (see photos), as slides. Students quickly grasped concepts such as slope by testing their model with counting bears. It was gratifying to see such deep connections being made with high engagement and discovery. We ended up winning First Place in our grade level. \r\nI love using the Math Kit for small spontaneous groups. During our unit on counting to 100, I noticed that the kit included a 2 sided 100s chart (that is dry erase). This allowed me to give an impromptu lesson on noticing patterns in a 100s chart and then have them flip it over and attempt to count and write numbers. Now that they know how to use the printers and how to design their own prints, throughout the school year the printer is going constantly as students create and print objects for classroom projects and just for fun.
