My students are from a diverse, urban neighborhood - forty-five percent of my school is African-American, another forty-five percent is Latino, and ten percent is Pacific Islander. We are a relatively small elementary school with a student population of about 350. Like many school districts, we are suffering from a lack of funding, which seems to have been worsening these past three years. But we - the faculty and the students - make the best out of what we do have.
