These novel sets have been carefully chosen as high-quality literature that I know my students will love. They adore having their own books to hold and read along with as we dig deep into the literature. My students tell me daily that reading our chapter books and discussing them as a class is their favorite part of their day. I love to see their faces light up when I tell them to get their books out and enjoy watching them get excited about the stories. Reading these books helps my students meet the standard RL5.10, which states that by the end of the year, students will read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poetry, at the high end of the grades 5-6 text complexity band independently and proficiently. Close reading novels with my students gets them excited about reading a wide variety of literature and helps build their comprehension.
