These are not just notebooks—they are living records of growth. Students organize their thinking, track essential skills, respond to literature, annotate texts, practice grammar, reflect on learning, and build vocabulary in meaningful ways. For many of our Title I and English Language Learner students, having a structured, consistent place to process language and ideas has been transformative. ELL students especially benefit from the combination of writing, visuals, modeling, and hands-on engagement that interactive notebooks allow. I have seen students who once hesitated to participate now confidently flipping back through their pages, referencing prior learning, and building on it. They are making connections, strengthening academic language, and developing independence as learners.\r\n\r\nThe large Post-it chart pads have also made a tremendous difference. They have turned our classrooms into spaces of visible thinking and collaborative learning. Students work in groups to analyze texts, debate themes, map arguments, and share interpretations. Because their ideas are displayed publicly, every student has a voice. Students who may feel reluctant to speak in front of the whole class often shine in small-group discussions and proudly present their collective thinking. These materials have supported rigorous instruction across grade levels—helping students analyze complex texts, construct claims with evidence, revise their writing, and engage deeply with content. More importantly, they have helped create classrooms where students feel supported, included, and empowered.","fullyFundedDate":1768186877969,"projectUrl":"project/building-literacy-one-page-at-a-time/10008019/","projectTitle":"Building Literacy One Page at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Green","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9359057"},{"teacherId":5509347,"projectId":10003354,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our project, \"Thinking on Their Feet: Collaborative Geometry with Vertical Whiteboards.\" Because of your generosity, my students now have access to vertical whiteboard spaces, dry-erase markers, plastic writable sheet protectors, and a classroom display setup that truly transformed how math looks and feels in our room.\r\n\r\nThe impact was immediate.\r\n\r\nInstead of sitting quietly at desks, students now stand, move, collaborate, and think out loud. Working at vertical whiteboards encourages them to take risks, share ideas, and revise their thinking in real time. The writable sheet protectors allow us to reuse materials daily, giving students endless opportunities to practice and learn from mistakes without fear of \"messing up\" a worksheet.\r\n\r\nThe classroom display has helped us de-front the room — shifting from teacher-centered instruction to student-centered exploration. Students can compare strategies, justify their reasoning, and learn from one another as their work becomes visible to the entire class. The conversations around geometry concepts, probability, and problem-solving have become deeper, more authentic, and more collaborative.\r\n\r\nWhat I love most is seeing students who might normally stay quiet become active contributors. Standing shoulder-to-shoulder, they explain their ideas, defend their reasoning, and build confidence in a way that simply doesn't happen when learning stays on paper.\r\n\r\nYour support didn't just purchase supplies — you helped create a learning environment where students feel safe to think, question, and grow together.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students and our classroom community, thank you for believing in them and investing in their learning. It's not every day they see a vacuum delivered to a math classroom! Once I explained that these resources were a gift from donors who wanted them to have a clean, professional space to work in, they were incredibly appreciative. They immediately realized that having a vacuum meant we could quickly take care of the inevitable messes that come with a busy school day, and the extension wire meant they would finally have more flexibility with where they could plug in their devices for our digital graphing lessons.\r\n\r\nResources in Action\r\nWe have been using the extension wire daily to create \"charging stations\" around the perimeter of the room. In Algebra 2, we frequently use graphing calculators and tablets to visualize complex functions. Previously, students were tethered to the few wall outlets we had, but now they can collaborate in groups anywhere in the room without worrying about a dead battery. The vacuum has been a lifesaver for our \"Friday Refresh,\" allowing us to keep our learning environment tidy and free of distractions, which helps everyone stay focused on the rigorous coursework.\r\n\r\nLooking Ahead\r\nAs we move into our next unit on Exponential and Logarithmic functions, these tools will continue to be vital. We are preparing for a project where students will model real-world growth patterns using their devices, and having the extra reach from the extension wire will allow for much better group collaboration. Here is how your donation of Hyperice X Knee and human anatomy posters is already making an impact for our students in 2026.\r\n In the classroom, technology is a bridge between abstract concepts and real-world application. While students often use devices for entertainment, we use the Hyperice X to teach the science of contrast therapy—the alternating of heat and cold to stimulate blood flow and reduce inflammation. Active Engagement: Rather than just reading about muscle recovery, students use the smartphone-controlled app to see how precise temperature adjustments and compression directly affect healing. Visual Reinforcement: The human anatomy posters provide a permanent, high-visibility reference that simplifies complex systems, allowing students to visualize the exact tendons and ligaments being treated by the recovery tech.\r\n The students are most energized by the Hyperice X's ability to provide \"ice-less\" cold therapy. Immediate Results: They love the \"instant\" switch between intense heat and deep cold without the mess of traditional ice packs. Professional Standard: Knowing that elite leagues like the NBA and UFC use this exact technology makes the learning feel high-stakes and professional.\r\n This equipment has been a game-changer for two specific groups: Student-Athletes: Many of our students who play competitive sports have embraced these tools as essential for managing \"jumper's knee\" or recovering from intense training sessions. They have become \"peer experts,\" teaching others how recovery prevents long-term injury. Visual and Hands-On Learners: Students who previously struggled with textbook-heavy lessons are now thriving. The combination of the detailed anatomy posters and the tactile experience of the Hyperice units has helped them grasp difficult biological concepts through \"living anatomy\"—studying the body while it is in motion and recovery.","fullyFundedDate":1768265974223,"projectUrl":"project/mr-barretts-anatomy-project/9993102/","projectTitle":"Mr Barrett’s Anatomy Project","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Barrett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8145350"},{"teacherId":8149965,"projectId":10029225,"letterContent":"On behalf of the students at Del Sol Academy, thank you for your generous donation to our classes.\r\n\r\nBecause of your contribution, we were able to purchase more than our basic needs for this year. Students are using the new muslin and dress form to drape, test, and refine garments for character-driven design projects, allowing them to see how flat ideas translate into three-dimensional work. One particularly powerful moment came when students were able to fit a mock-up on the dress form for the first time—suddenly seams, proportions, and movement became real in a way textbooks can't provide.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the classroom buzzed with excitement. Students gathered around the dress form, asking questions and eagerly planning what they wanted to create first. Many had never worked with industry-standard tools before, and their reactions reflected a sense of being taken seriously as designers. These resources helped students feel validated in their creative ambitions and inspired them to push themselves further in their work.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue developing garments for their design portfolios, revising mock-ups and applying feedback as they move toward more polished final pieces. They'll use these materials to explore historical, contemporary, and character-based costume challenges, building practical skills that prepare them for college programs, scholarships, and careers in theatre and design.
