I teach ESL, and coach soccer at the same time. Most, if not all of my student athletes come from a low-income household. Majority of them are newcomers to the United States, and we lost all of our soccer uniforms to Hurricane Ida. Sports allow these student an after-school opportunity to bond together as a community and practice their language skills. This is helpful because this is an interest based activity. Most of my athletes were not able to play because they couldn't pay or buy their uniforms. Kindly help us bring the sports they love back to them, and kindly help us build back a community.
