There are so many reasons why all these health materials will help my 8th grade students. For example using health standard 1.PCE.MS.1 Investigate the impact of a variety of healthy practices and behaviors to maintain or improve personal, community, and environmental health. Right now in my classroom I don't have the necessary materials to complete this using a hands on experience. When the students can utilize the 4D models and posters they can now visualize and use these things to complete their understanding of physical health. Another standard with example is 1.NP.MS.3 by explaining the importance of annual physical health examinations and responding appropriately to unusual aches and pains. (Per NRS 389.018). Take the 4D models and posters which the students can now have hands on experiences. When I walk into a health room, I want to see all these things the kids can use to help them understand the necessary skills to live a long and healthy life. Using the models can help them understand and apply it to themselves. Another standard example is 1.SIC.MS.1 by examining how health risk behaviors influence safety and injury prevention practices. Using the 4D heart model when comparing and contrasting a hypertensive heart and a healthy heart. Students can now physically see the what and why this is killing more people around the world then any other disease. They can also see the main parts of the organ to distinguish the blood vessels and arteries.
