The highlighters and Post-it notes have been especially helpful during our close reading activities. For example, while analyzing short stories, students used different colors to highlight key elements like theme, figurative language, and important details. They then used Post-it notes to annotate their thinking, ask questions, and make connections directly on the text or on our large Post-it posters during group discussions. This has transformed what used to be a quieter, more individual task into a highly interactive and collaborative experience.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were genuinely excited—especially about having their own supplies to use consistently. It may seem simple, but having access to fresh Expo markers, pencils, and sticky notes made them feel more prepared and invested in their work. The large Post-it posters have been a favorite for group work; students enjoy getting up, sharing ideas, and visually organizing their thinking together. The energy in the room has noticeably increased, and even more hesitant students have been more willing to participate.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue using these tools to support a larger writing project where they develop and support thematic claims using textual evidence. They will brainstorm and outline their ideas on Post-it notes, collaborate in groups using the posters, and use highlighters to track evidence and analysis in their drafts. While many of our donors may use technology in their daily lives, in our classroom it serves as a powerful tool for exploration and critical thinking. Students are now able to visualize complex scientific concepts, collect and analyze data in real time, and collaborate more effectively with their peers. Instead of passively receiving information, they are actively investigating phenomena, testing ideas, and making sense of their learning in ways that simply weren't possible before.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about this new technology is the ability to take ownership of their learning. They are especially enthusiastic about the hands-on and interactive features, which allow them to experiment, problem-solve, and immediately see the results of their thinking. I've seen several students—particularly those who previously struggled to stay engaged—become more confident and curious. One student who rarely participated before is now one of the first to volunteer answers and share discoveries, while another has taken a leadership role in helping classmates navigate the technology. I would like to tell you about one student specifically, Sabra. Sabra is a very quiet shy girl, she doesn't socialize with others too much and she has had a great deal of unfortunate mishaps in her life, to say the least. Sabra has been coming to the crochet club from the start, she always works by herself and she is content doing so. Finally after months of attendance she brought along another student who she connected with. It was great seeing her in this social setting, then on another occasion she brought along her art tablet. OMG the talent of this young girl is amazing! The characters she has created from her own minds eye is outrageous. I suggested she create a book with her graphics and story lines, but she is not as self confident in her abilities yet. I brought up to her how amazing she is in creating crochet items without the use of any patterns, now I see how she is able to do it. She has also had many people come up to her and ask her to make items for them and she has but she's still not confident enough to sell her items. I suggested she at least tell them to cover the cost of items then start to incorporate her labor time. \r\nIt is just amazing to see the growth, social skills and now working on her confidence that she is awesome all came about because of a crochet club. At our most recent meet, the \"math\" of the pool changed in our favor as we celebrated massive personal bests, with athletes lopping off 6.26, 9.38, and even 9.57 seconds from their times!\r\n\r\nThe Ripple Effect of Your Support\r\nThe impact of this equipment goes beyond just physical speed; it has shifted the entire energy of our program:\r\n\r\nTechnical Precision: The fins and buoys allow our swimmers to isolate their stroke technique. They can now \"feel\" the correct body position, making corrections that were previously impossible to explain with words alone.\r\n\r\nExplosive Power: The drag parachutes have become a team favorite for building strength off the blocks and turns, giving our athletes that extra \"pop\" they need in the final lap.\r\n\r\nThe Confidence Factor: There was a visible shift in the team's demeanor the moment this gear arrived. Seeing brand-new equipment poolside told our students that their hard work is recognized and supported by a community that wants them to succeed.\r\n\r\nWhat's Next for the Team\r\nWe are currently building on this momentum with high-intensity resistance drills and stroke-specific workshops. Our next goal is to use the parachutes for targeted sprint sets, pushing even more of our athletes toward those elusive personal records and qualifying times.\r\n\r\nThank you for providing the tools these students needed to dive deeper into their potential. Students are learning how audio signals travel, how to properly connect and manage equipment, and how sound design supports storytelling on stage. This hands-on experience turns abstract concepts into real-world skills.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is that everything works the way it should.
