Students returned to the classroom this year with much higher levels of stress and frustration than ever before. More than ever, teachers need to ensure that their classrooms are comfortable and soothing in order to promote learning. The items I am requesting will help me create a more comfortable environment that helps relieve stress and promote learning. Our school was staffed for 3000 students and we opened in August with 3700. The overwhelming numbers have created larger classrooms (I have 285 students) with minimal resources. The cleaning supplies will allow me to keep my room clean despite short staffing, the LED lights and light filters will create a warmer atmosphere, and the fidget toys (stress balls, pipe cleaners and art supplies) serve as stress relief. The books can be checked out by students to read at home, and the power strips allow them to charge their Chromebooks when they forget. All of these things make learning easier for students despite the stresses they have endured. Thank you for your consideration.
