When they are hungry or just need a pick me up, you have supplied them with treats and snacks to feed them. When their hands need to be busy, yet they need to be focused, you have given them fidgets to make their minds and bodies feel calm. When they needed supplies to create beautiful projects, you sent them colors and tools to be creative. When our students need a brain break and need to come together, you have provided them games to play together. \r\n\r\nWords can not express how greatly your donations impact our students. My students were so excited to receive the package with these resources inside. Already we've constructed skylines of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, Paris and the Eiffel Tower, London and the London Eye, as well as iconic structures in Tokyo and Dubai. Through the assembly of these Lego kits, students were able to see for themselves why certain shapes are used for certain structures to give it as much strength and durability as possible. They not only used the Legos to learn about architecture and engineering, but also used them to create their own word problems! Students used the falling object model formula to develop questions about dropping an object from the top of these iconic structures so estimate the amount of time it would take for the object to reach the ground. The limited monochromatic palette, enhanced by the touch of shimmering silver, forced students to focus intensely on texture, shadow, and contrast—powerful elements that made the resulting endangered animal portraits incredibly dramatic and moving.\r\n\r\nBefore we started our art, each student chose an endangered animal to research. They didn't just look for images; they dove into the causes of the animal's decline, its ecological role, and the conservation efforts underway. This research transformed the project from a simple art assignment into a mission.\r\n\r\nResearching an animal and then spending hours meticulously rendering its portrait created a deep, personal sense of empathy. It's hard to ignore a crisis when you are capturing the soul of one of its victims on canvas.\r\n\r\nThe resulting exhibition of these stunning black and white pieces naturally drew attention. The stark contrast highlighted the dire need for conservation, turning our hallway or community display into a gallery of advocates. While glamorous art materials often get the attention, items like soap, paper towels, and cleaning supplies are, in reality, the backbone of a successful ceramics and painting program. In ceramics, students work with fine particulate clay dust and various glazes, which necessitate frequent hand washing and surface cleaning to maintain a safe environment and prevent respiratory issues. \r\n\r\nFurthermore, your generous inclusion of lotion directly impacts student comfort and encourages continued engagement in their work. The repeated washing required to remove clay and paint residue can be extremely harsh on young artists' skin, leading to dryness, irritation, and cracking. \r\n\r\nBy providing lotion, you are addressing this practical hurdle, helping us create a more welcoming environment where students are not discouraged by physical discomfort.
