Students use these models to explore dimensions, proportions, sightlines, entrances, and how scenic elements will work together before construction begins. This gives them hands-on experience with the same planning and problem-solving processes used by professional scenic designers and technicians.\r\n\r\nThe saw has also allowed students to develop practical skills in measuring, cutting, assembling, and safely using tools. They are learning that technical theatre is not just about creativity—it requires precision, collaboration, communication, mathematics, engineering, and problem-solving.\r\n\r\nFor many of our students, this is their first opportunity to work with real tools and create something tangible from their own designs.
