Some selected animals that represent qualities they hope to grow in themselves, like courage, independence, or creativity. Others chose animals they simply love or feel connected to. Once they selected their animals, they designed their alebrije. Several students explained why they chose particular colors, and it was amazing to hear the personal stories, thoughtful explanations, and cultural connections behind their choices.\r\n\r\nThe students were so excited when we finally were able to bring their design to life. They were engaged and were so proud of what they created. Many hadn't made an animal like this and some wanted to make more after they learned how to do it. \r\n\r\nYour support provided more than materials. The model will help me teach the classes to come about plate tectonics and the layers of Earth. The globe is made of durable material that they can take apart and put back together and not be worried about damaging the model.
