With this set of books, my students will be able to read about a time in American history that is often times ignored. As I read this book, I knew that I needed to open my student's minds to this era and that the novel would go perfectly in my unit on WWII. The world is changing very quickly, and my students need to be able to have the resources to read about events that affect us all. Mindsets will be changed once they read this novel and understand the importance of the times. George Takai has taken his platform and experiences and will continue to change the world.
