The Tonie Box and themed Tonies aligned perfectly with our first two reading units, sparking wonder about science topics while strengthening listening skills and literacy. I saw students lean in to hear every story, then carry that excitement into their reading and discussions — connecting what they heard to what they were learning. The headphones let every child listen at their own pace in a calm, focused space, while the seat pockets kept materials organized so we lost less learning time to chaos.\r\n\r\nAs their teacher, these resources let me run a classroom that stays both engaged and smoothly managed. Students worked together on whiteboards, practiced focused listening, and stayed motivated by the small prizes that celebrated their effort and behavior. Because of these materials, every student got to feel like an explorer — and that sense of wonder made them more eager readers, more curious thinkers, and more confident learners.","fullyFundedDate":1755697782793,"projectUrl":"project/exploring-new-worlds-engaging-learners/9501509/","projectTitle":"Exploring New Worlds: Engaging Learners Through Story and Science","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wilkinson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7438694"},{"teacherId":7438694,"projectId":7686323,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous gift of classroom supplies. Some of these items keep our classroom running smoothly every day, but so many of them — the dry erase labels, sentence strips, whiteboards, and magnetic fractions — are tools I'm truly excited to use to get my third graders up, moving, and talking with one another.\r\n\r\nMy goal this year is to help my students build a positive outlook on learning and become fearless question-askers. The dry erase labels will let me place questions and answers around the room for students to visit and discuss. The sentence strips will strengthen our grammar, writing, and social studies lessons. And our magnetic fractions will make learning about fractions hands-on and easy to see as we manipulate them right on the whiteboard. My students are smart — they just sometimes need a little nudge to show off their potential, and these tools give them exactly that.\r\n\r\nIn my fourth year teaching third grade, I know what helps my students come alive. Watching them hold up their boards to show their thinking and explain their work has made learning come alive in a way that's a joy to witness.\r\n\r\nMy students cheer each other on and help one another using their own strengths, so these whiteboards have become a natural way for every child to participate. No matter where they are in their learning, each student gets a turn to show what they've mastered and feel like they truly belong. Seeing them come into class with bright eyes, proud and excited to demonstrate what they know, has been one of the most rewarding parts of my year.\r\n\r\nYou gave my students a reason to be excited about learning and the tools to show just how capable they are. Your generosity has made a real difference for my 21 first graders at Elk Elementary in South Jordan.\r\n\r\nThe materials you provided became essential parts of our daily learning. The clipboards were a game-changer — my students can now move around the room during lessons, which keeps them engaged and lets them learn in ways that work best for their bodies. Whether they're working on the floor, at a table, or tucked into a cozy corner, the clipboards give them the flexibility they need.\r\n\r\nOur dry erase boards have been invaluable for our UFLI (Universal Foundations of Literacy Instruction) work, writing practice, and math. It's so rewarding to watch students practice letter sounds, build words, and work through math problems — then wipe them clean and try again. For my ELL students and students with special needs, these boards provide a low-pressure way to take risks and build confidence.\r\n\r\nThe reward bucket has been a huge hit with our point chart system. When students fill out their charts by showing kindness, staying focused, or making progress on their goals, they get to choose a prize. The scratch-and-sniff stickers are always a favorite! It's been wonderful to see their faces light up when they earn a reward for their hard work.\r\n\r\nI'm also grateful for the rolling stool, which helps me move between small groups more easily, and the math weight bars that give students hands-on experience with measurement. Even the pencil sharpener — such a simple thing — keeps our classroom running smoothly.\r\n\r\nYour support has created a more flexible, engaging, and supportive learning environment for every student in my room. The classroom now feels more inclusive, and students who previously struggled to participate are more involved. \r\n\r\nThis project also allowed me to implement new teaching strategies, fostering both my growth and my students' success. The reading cushions have provided a fun and engaging way for students to access reading anywhere in the classroom. The Wild Robot books have been a fun way for me to read aloud to the students and get them interested in new stories. \r\n\r\nThe pencil grips have been used by many students to learn how to hold a pencil. These have been a valuable tool in first grade as we learn to write. The birthday covers have been an inclusive way to celebrate all students throughout the year. Some students who were having reading comprehension can listen to stories and take quizzes and pass with 100%.\r\nIn math, students are increased their fact fluency by 80%.
