Many people see 3D printers as fun gadgets, but in school they become powerful learning tools. My students are using them to plan, design, and problem-solve in ways that help them think like real engineers and creators.\r\n\r\nRight now, the printer is being used to make props for our claymation projects, which has added a whole new level of excitement. Students love seeing their ideas go from a computer screen to a real object they can hold. Before receiving this generous donation, our playground lacked a variety of options for the students to engage in active play, and we were especially limited when it came to recess balls and other equipment that promote both structured games and free play. The arrival of this new equipment brought an immediate sense of excitement and joy to our students. From the very first day, they were eager to explore the items, share them with friends, and create new games together. The positive energy on the playground is undeniable, and the equipment has already become a central part of their daily routine.\r\n\r\nPlay is an essential part of a child's development, not only because it allows them to burn off energy and stay active, but also because it helps them practice teamwork, problem-solving, and social skills. With more options now available, students who may not have previously participated in playground activities are finding ways to get involved. Teachers and staff have also noticed that having access to a wider variety of equipment has reduced conflicts during recess, as there are more opportunities for every student to engage in something they enjoy. This donation has truly enhanced the overall atmosphere of our playground, making recess a more inclusive and positive experience for all.\r\n\r\nOf course, with new equipment comes the responsibility of ensuring that it lasts for many years to come. Our next step is to purchase recess bags and storage options so that the equipment can be properly cared for and easily managed by both students and staff. By providing designated bags, we can help students learn the importance of responsibility, organization, and stewardship of shared resources. Taking the time to prioritize the longevity of this donation will ensure that the equipment continues to benefit not just our current students, but also future classes who will have the opportunity to enjoy recess with these same items.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for the support that has made this possible. Contributions like these have an immediate and lasting effect on our school community. Something as simple as a ball or jump rope may seem small, but to our students, it represents fun, connection, and the chance to make memories with their classmates. Each donation directly impacts their daily lives in meaningful ways, and the excitement we see on their faces is the best reminder of why these resources matter so much.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we hope to continue strengthening our playground resources so that every child has the opportunity to enjoy an active and engaging recess experience. With the foundation of this donation and the steps we are taking to preserve it, our students are not only playing more, but also growing, learning, and building friendships that will stay with them for years.","fullyFundedDate":1754078500906,"projectUrl":"project/dcis-recess-equipment/9489675/","projectTitle":"DCIS Recess Equipment","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gurss","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8936913"},{"teacherId":4526504,"projectId":9282017,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my 7th and 8th grade students now have the tools they need to fully engage in their Creative Technology projects.
