Reading is such an important skill to have and enjoy. I want to foster a love of reading in my students! I want to teach them that reading books is even better than playing video games and watching movies. Part of that enjoyment comes from being comfortable while you read. The items I have requested will help me create a comfortable and organized reading nook for my students to read and work in. I want them to be able to not only read there, but do center activities and independent work comfortably. Having some flexibility and choice is important for children because it teaches them to make decisions for themselves. Even making a simple choice, like where to sit, can help build those decision making skills in my students. These kids have been through so much in the last couple of years. They are truly remarkable and I think they deserve to have a place to relax, read, and work that is comfortable and welcoming.
