The demographics of the students I teach are children who come from homes in poverty. Our school's free and reduced lunch count is 99%. We are a neighborhood that prides itself in reaching out to families and involving them in school in a variety of ways. Students in my class are usually very sensitive to their environment. The crime statistics of the neighborhood is high and so it is very likely they see violence in and on a regular basis. My students are very active learners and we never say "can't and "won't. We know given the right conditions every child can learn.
